In the past century when analogue film took off, all the way to digital, it became possible to capture behavior and thereby characters.
Previously to above, this was limited to literature and stories, considerably in a population who was not always literate.
Theater existed, but is no comparison to media we have in the past 3-deacades - 90s onwards.

So why does this matted? Seems odd.
Because each generation learns a set of characters. Children build their identity from it.
Id - Latin belonging + entity = Identity
Media can and does compress an else nuanced human into a cartoon. This makes it simple to emulate and puts it on a service-plate.
---
What children/generations accumulate is a character thats : hysteric, feels entitled, blames others for own shortcomings, capitalizes on others pain “comedy they call it”, and lives in a world revolving around themselves “main-actor-syndrome”, or just selfishness …etc.
All above is better condensated into one term :
Chutzpe
What they learn about the world and how to be is Chutzpe. It becomes their Id-entity.
---
Back to the Kali Yuga:
Look at Incels, thier worldview is downstream reactionism to the Chutzpe of females.
Look at “looks maxxers”, they are downstream results of men being told to “go on a steroid teardown-rally, becouse else they wont be liked”
Both origination from a cartoonish “bimbo, matcho” picture of humans, which looses any soul and character which a being else has.
This is Kali Yuga.
---
It does not have last 1k-years or the like. It is over when generations will be free from the mentality of american sitcoms where capitalizing on others pain is “amusing”, and if you dont act the same way your a “looser”.
The time-span of the Kali Yuga hence is defined by generations rotating each decade and if they choose to abolish the Chutzpe.
